Healing with Horses - Resources

We are fortunate to have many meaningful ways of connecting with horses here in the Santa Cruz area. Many of these modalities are enriching and relationship-centered for both humans and our equine partners. Below are a few local providers offering horse-facilitated healing, learning, and connection.

Adventures In Healing 

Offering Psychotherapy to humans with the assistance of our herd. Specializing in Equine Therapy Services to increase physical and mental well-being.


Beyond Liberty

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit sanctuary and education center where horses live in herds at liberty, with voice and choice. Consent-based, nature-grounded programs foster connection, well-being, and advocacy for horses, humans, and the natural world.


Deer Horn Ranch

Offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, wellness center, and private lessons. Providing exceptional care and training that fosters confidence, builds trust, and ignites a lifelong passion for riding.


Free Spirit Stables

Explore deeper relationships with horses through Liberty Horsemanship, equine yoga, or dancing with horses. Private sessions and group offerings develop connection, communication, and authentic partnership.


Horse & Heart

A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit offering ethical Intuitive Horsemanship Programs, Emotional Horsemanship, Congruency Coaching, Equine Experiential Learning, Online Intuitive Horsemanship Coaching, Leadership Team Building Retreats, Care and Consent-Based, Horse first Clinics.


Horse Sense Education and Advocacy

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to healing and connection through horses. Programs serving youth, veterans, and families. Empowering growth, trust, and compassion through education and partnership. Community Events


Horse Whispers

A 501(c)(3), non-profit, connecting youth in San Benito, Monterey, and Santa Cruz counties to the healing power of horses.



Jean Kvamme Center for Adaptive Riding

Dedicated to healing – healing of body, mind and spirit – and creating a joyful experience for riders and their families. Our goal is to facilitate a strong connection between horse and rider through compassion and community, and to encourage growth in the individual.

Magical Horsemanship
